Leader Eddie Baynard has assembled a group of particularly outstanding jazz musicians to resurrect some of the overlooked classic sounds and repertoire of the important New Orleans bands of the twenties, ie. New Orleans Owls, Halfway House Orchestra, Piron's New Orleans Orchestra, Original Dixieland Jazz Band, New Orleans Rhythm Kings, and others. Although these very talented musicians shine brilliantly on their solos, each subordinates his individuality to enhance the full ensemble sound. It is hard to believe that only seven musicians can create such intricately beautiful music which reminds us how great and inspiring were those great early bands from New Orleans. |
