Description:
One of the earliest & finest exponents of world jazz, Oregon began in 1970, formed around guitarist Ralph Towner. They produced a string of albums for Vanguard in the 1970s, and this one is considered the apex of their work. Improvisation was central to their creations, firmly in the jazz tradition, and heavily inspired by John Coltrane & McCoy Tyner. The music is characterized by an openness to diverse musical influences. |
