QUASIMODO: FAMOUS DIAL SESSIONS

Description:
The recordings included in this cd fall in two categories clearly defined by the work of two young trumpet players who at the time were radical exponets of the Bop language, Howard McGhee and Miles Davis. The first of these sessions has become a dramatic document of the Parker tragedy. In the studios sits a psychiatrist invited by the producer who is alarmed by Parkers bad shape. Somehow they manage to record four tunes before Parker collapses on the floor. Parker was taken back to his hotel room to rest, and soon after the fire brigade is called to extinguish a fire he has set to his mattress.
