LITTLE JUNIOR PARKER

1952-1955

Description:
A fairly obscure figure in the history of African American music, Herman "Little Junior" Parker is perhaps a more important figure in the history of rock 'n' roll, with songs such as "Feelin' Good" being covered hundreds of times by young blues and rock 'n' roll bands. This CD reissues the recordings made during the first 3 years of the his recording career. Arguably his greatest recordings, these include the gloriously chaotic duet with Bobby "Blue" Bland on "Love My Baby" backed by The Beale Streeters, the magnificent Sun recordings including the career song "Feelin' Good" and the rockabilly blueprints "Mystery Train" and "Love My Baby" featuring Floyd Murphy, and the very earliest Texas cuts for Don Robey's Duke label, featuring guitarists Pat Hare and Roy Gaines.
