Description:
These performances are drawn from three Armed Forces Radio Shows that presented the band. As most of these performances demonstrate, raeburn was prompted to assemble what gradually became a remarkable virtuoso ensemble. A brief alliance with a mainstream avant gardist such as Gillespie even became possible and hence Night In Tunisia presented here in two performances, one with and another without the bebop ace. The April show featured a guest spot for Mel Torme and The Meltones who were backed by the Raeburn orchestra.
