Don Rendell has for decades been one of Britain's leading tenor saxophonists. During that time he has performed with some of the country's leading big bands and small groups as well as leading his own highly regarded jazz units. This release comprises his superb 1957 album Don Rendell presents the Jazz Six, a group that featured sidemen who were, or would become, star players in their own right including Kenny Wheeler and Ronnie Ross. Don's Jazz Six romps its way through an enthralling mix of standards and original compositions including Don's Ignis Fatuus suite. Don's groups are also heard on the CD's bonus tracks, drawn from the 1956 Tenorama album, which featured Don's quartet, and the 1957 album All the Winners, which showcased that year's Melody Maker Jazz Poll winners.
