The Rent Party Revellers are a "festival" band that is made up of leaders of seven different traditional jazz bands. Only expert tubaist Chuck Stewart does not lead his own band; he holds down the tuba chair in the Paramount Jazz Band of Boston in which the drummer of the Revellers, Ray Smith, is the leader. Despite the strong leadership background of its members, Tex Wyndham has molded them into a cohesive unit that enjoys playing together. We think this recording presents the Revellers at their very best, playing a varied program that displays their jazz skills to the fullest. The Rent Party Revellers are very popular at jazz festivals wherever they appear.
