On this CD Vocalion presents two of famous Latin American bandleader Edmundo Ros's rarest Decca albums. ‘Ros Expo '70' 1970 and ‘Ros in Japan' 1966 were both recorded exclusively for the Japanese market and were originally issued only in that country. This marks their first time on CD as well as their first European release. ‘Ros Expo '70' was recorded while Edmundo was on tour in Japan, and was sold exclusively at the Expo '70 festival at which he and his orchestra had appeared. It features the Latin maestro running his band through superb arrangements of numbers including España Cani, I Will Wait for You and Cielito Lindo. ‘Ros in Japan', from four years earlier, features more charming Latin Americanisations of well known melodies such as Vacance De L'Amour mixed with less familiar but equally enthralling pieces such as Sakura, Defune and Hamabe No Uta. |
