EDMUNDO ROS

ORIGINAL RECORDINGS

Description:
A synonym for British Latin American music during the latter half of the 20th century, Edmundo Williams Ros was lured by jazz, dance and the more 'easy listening' genres of the day, however, Edmundo gigged instead in Latin style bands at London's Nest Club and elsewhere. It wasn't until 1942, Ros began to woo a wider audience with Latin arrangements of contemporary Broadway and Tin Pan Alley hits. Thereafter, Ros made a specialty of commercializing samba, rumba and calypso arrangements of tunes popularised by on screen and records by Carmen Miranda, the Andrews Sisters and others.
