Description:
This band was formed by Chuck Marsh in 1947 as the Purdue Jazz Society. They became the Original Peerless Jazz Band and then recast themselves in 1949 as The Salty Dogs. Because it was home based a Purdue University, personnel changes were the norm. In fact, four generations of band configurations had extised by 1958. This, then, was the fourth generation heritage group of student musicians that was in placed when "The 1958 Salty Dogs" was recorded. This CD includes two tunes left off the original LP.
