Description:
The first CD features recordings from two “Your Hit Parade” shows towards the end of his run with the programme – April 20th 1949 and his farewell performance on 28th May 1949. Eileen Wilson is the guest artist who takes a couple of solo spots. Frank shares the introductions with announcer Andre Baruch, giving the album the atmosphere and pace of the original radio broadcasts. The second CD features tracks culled from “Lite Up Time” shows from September 1949 to March 1950, presented in chronological order, but topped and tailed with intro and closing sequences from the 24th November, Thanksgiving Day, programme. The show was made in Hollywood for the first six months with the Jeff Alexander and Ziggy Elman Orchestras, with singing star Dorothy Kirsten featured on a solo and two duets. In March the show moved to New York, with the Skitch Henderson Orchestra, featuring Bobby Hackett, taking over. Once again, Frank shares the intros and banter, giving a special insight into his talents as a relaxed and natural entertainer, as well as delivering the songs, both well known and less familiar material, in immaculate swinging style. |
