Description:
The RCA Years is a 20 track survey of Kay Starr's late '50s recordings for RCA, which fell between better documented stints with Capitol Records. The collection is a curious one in that it focuses on album tracks rather than hits, omitting such seemingly obvious candidates as her number one hit "Rock and Roll Waltz." The RCA Years does present five cuts from her 1958 album, Rockin' With Kay, although only one of the songs really lives up to the album's title. The selection provides an entertaining assemblage of lesser known tracks for Starr's enthusiasts, but is not representative of her most popular recordings for RCA. |
