Early pioneer of the slide guitar, the father figure of Chicago Blues plays twenty four gems from his prolific career. Including 'Seminole Blues', 'Bumble Bee' and 'Let Me Play With Your Poodle. Starting as one half of an immensely popular 1920s 'hokum' duo along with "Georgia" Tom Dorsey, Tampa Red became known as the first great exponent of the National Steel guitar. A great influence on later Chicago artists such as Muddy Waters, he left a great legacy of recorded music. This collection features many gems that have not always been given the airing that they deserve. |
