JACK TEAGARDEN

FATHER OF JAZZ TROMBONE

Description:
This incomparable 3 CD Box Set features the work of the great trombone player Jack Teagarden. Covering the period from 1928 1947, this set is the most important collection of Teagarden's work to emerge since Epic's 1963 release, "King Of The Blues Trombone". With an enormous 72 tracks, this collection contains so many high spots covering Jack's career both as trombonist and as a singer. Considered both by his contemporaries and by subsequent great trombone players like Bob Brookmeyer and Bill Russo as the best trombone player with an unequalled mastery of the instrument, Teagarden was in the words of cornettist and good friend Bobby Hackett "to the trombone what Louis Armstrong is to the trumpet".
