THE TERRITORY BANDS | |
Description:
In the 1920s & 1930s, the more famous jazz bands were based in New York City, but throughout the rest of the country there were many fine bands playing locally in small cities. These territory bands toured their local area playing in cafes, ballrooms, minstrel & vaudeville shows. They were rarely recorded, but presented here are 24 tracks performed by the Original Yellow Jackets, Carolina Cotton Pickers, Bogan's Birmingham Busters, Jeter Pillars Club Plantation Orch. & others, including Cab's sister Blanche Calloway & Her Band. |
