CHARLIE VENTURA
BOP FOR THE PEOPLE | |
Description:
This unusual compact disc features Charlie Ventura and his featured vocalists, scat singers Jackie Cain and Kenny O'Brien giving a ten part tutorial in which they dissect the nature of bebop and in particular how the human voice is used to enhance the music. There are also nine bonus tracks featuring not only Charlie Ventura And His Septet but, Charlie Ventura playing with the Charlie Parker All Stars on How High The Moon and also the Miles Davis All Stars Jamming on an alternate version of the same tune. The artist lineup reads like a Who's Who of jazz and also contains a very rare version of I Cover The Waterfront sung at a concert at the Civic Auditorium, Pasadena on the 9th of May 1949. |
