Description:
This CD, the first recordings made by Eddie Vinson for Mercury under his own name following his split from Cootie Williams' septet, track the development of the Vinsn band from a 14 piece juggernaut of modern swing to a pared down jump septet, from the pleasant big band jazz instrumentals "It's A Groovy Affair" and "Bn'er Rabbit", and the 1922 hit "Three O'Clock In The MNorning", the recreations of his earlier hits. The final three tracks of this selection are the result of a St. Louis session where Vinson's regular combo was boosted by a couple of musicians from local bandleader George Hudson's orchestra, including the young Clark Terry. |
