JIMMY WAKELY
FROM COWBOY TO COUNTRY | |
Description:
Jimmy Wakely surfaced as a "Singing Cowboy" at the tail end of the Hollywood film genre but quickly established himself as a B movie star. As the film career faded, he transformed into a country singer, and in 1949 also had a massive "pop" hit with "Slippin'
Around" in duet with Margaret Whiting, included here. Also featured are his other big hits of the period like "Song Of The Sierras," "I Love You So Much It Hurts," "Mine All Mine," "Till The End Of The World" and "I Wish I Had A Nickel". This 24 track compilation of commercial recordings also dips back into the late 1930s and well represents Jimmy Wakely as he moved from cowboy singer to mainstream country. The CD features Dick Reinhardt on one track. |
