This CD represents the entire session made by Bob Wallis and his band for Doug Dobell's 77 label in London in May 1957, featuring Bob Wallis trumpet and vocals, Les Wood clarinet, John Mortimer trombone, Pete Gresham piano, Hugh Rainey banjo, Stu Wimsey string bass and Ginger Baker who would later play in Cream on drums. As you will hear when you play this disc, both Bob and "Drag" have that real New Orleans sound, and that the Hull Jazzzmen must have been a pretty good band. Time was short and we had intended this to be a 10" LP session, but we found the band such an exciting team that Doug decided to capture enough music for a 12" LP.
