SWING WING AND THE MODERNAIRES

HOORAY FOR SPINACH!

Description:
In this collection we can assess all the Whiteman Swing Wing recordings from 1938 40. The recordings display great warmth and invention though many see the use of the Modernaires as an intrusion. Whiteman's heyday was in the 1920s and when the 30s brought big band swing into ballrooms and big hotels Whiteman formed a "Swing Wing" within his orchestra to mollify the real jazzmen in his ranks.
