FOY WILLINGAND THE RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE
COWBOY & THE NEW SOUND OF AMERICAN FOLK | |
Description:
The two Foy Willing and the Riders of the Purple Sage "reunion' records are finally available on this Folk Western twofer! In the twilight of a storied career in music and movies, Foy and the boys regrouped to make Cowboy Roulette in 1958 and The New Sound of American Folk Jubilee in 1962. The group's sweet Western harmony vocals had rivaled The Sons of the Pioneers throughout the 40s, but Cowboy added the pop sheen that late 50s fans were demanding, and then The New Sound gave a twist to the emerging folk boom by basically inventing Folk Western. Now together in single set, these long unavailable and highly recommended recordings are the perfect bookend to this pionner artist's career. |
