PETER YORKAND HIS CONCERT ORCHESTRA
ROSES OF PICARDY | |
Description:
The BBC Light Program regularly broadcast one of his shows on Sunday afternoons, which included vocalists Paula Greene and Steve Conway. These shows also featured the accomplished saxophone player, Freddy Gardner. Another high spot in his broadcasting schedule was his musical interludes on the Tommy Handley show, ITMA. Peter York died in 1966 at the age of 63. The current CD has been compiled by Michael Highton, one of Peter's many admirers. It is a fascinating mixture of memorable tunes, splendid band arrangements and superb musicianship recorded between 1947 1950. |
