This cd gathers the complete recordings waxed by Lester Young for teh Savoy label between 1944 and 1949. It includes four recording sessions, three with his small groups and one with the Count Basies orchestra leaded by Earl Warren, the band's musical director at the time. Amongst the recordings included in this collection, particularly worthy are his solos in "Salute To Fats", "Ghost Of A Chance", "Crazy Over J Z" and especially "These Foolish Things". |
